Friends and family of Farrah Fawcett said goodbye to the Charlie's Angels star at a private ceremony in Los Angeles early Wednesday.  She died in hospital with her long-time partner Ryan O'Neal at her beside.

A toddler survives Yemeni Airbus Crash -

Rescue workers have reportedly pulled a toddler alive from the sea where a Yemenia airlines plane crashed with 153 people on board. Mohammad al-Sumairi, a spokesman for the airline, said: "We have just learned from the Comoros that one person was rescued."

Iran – Council confirms Ahamadinejad as winner

Saying it had completed an investigation into alleged voter irregularities, Iran's election authority on Monday stood by its findings that gave hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad an overwhelming victory and sparked more than two weeks of chaos in the streets. There was "no tangible irregularity," Guardian Council spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei told government-run Press TV after reporting that a recount of some 10 percent of the votes found no significant differences.

He was special. He touched many of us.  Growing up in the 70s as little black boys and girls,  Michael and his brothers in the Jackson 5s, helped us read value in our colour. In an age where communication was not as versatile as it is today, news was slow to come round. Magazines such as ‘Right On’ gave us wind of the world around us.
